Rhyme Relateds "click to read the Interview"

When I was listening to the music that Rhyme Related continues to hit the streets with, I could immediately recognize the skill and hard work put into Rhyme Related’s music. One Day at A Time is a song that really stood out. It has a mellow feeling to it making the perfect feeling for a track. I think the female vocals really top it off. You can find that single here on Digital Music Planet available for your listening pleasure. I have to say that Rhyme Related’s music is truly unique and outstanding. Digital Music Planet brings to you one of the best artists in the industry, hard work truly does pay off.

Coming from different types of music and styles, they make a great combination for a group. With a unique sound and the attitude to have their own style is what really makes them what they are. You can find all different types of music when you start listening to Rhyme Related.

During the interview with Determind and AdverCity, I could feel the love that they put into their music just from their responses to my questions. I truly feel that they are definitely going to do something big in the music scene. They have the motivation and attitude to do whatever the hell they want. What I really like is they will go wherever the demand for them is; this is how they do it.

Lights Out is a song that attracted my attention. It could be called confrontational if you wanted to take it there. Altogether, this track showcases skill and the unique music that Rhyme Related has to offer their audiences.

One Day at A Time is an uplifting song that I really enjoyed. It’s about taking everything one day at a time. In my opinion, this is the only way. I think that this song will take off very well while helping people deal with certain situations. Sometimes being a perfectionist does pay off. At least this is the case for Rhyme Related.

Without trying to be what’s hot, they’re definitely letting everyone know what they like as far as style and music. The chemistry definitely sets off the work that they have done in their music career. They have also been doing this for quite a while, and that truly shines out as well in their music as well as their history.

Truthfully, I think that they have a lot of potential that is about to be unleashed with their upcoming album. I think that their popularity is not only growing now, just wait until they finally release Well Connected, this is something that will boost them up there. It has been a great pleasure to be able to do an interview with Determind and AdverCity, I look forward to seeing what else they have planned.

Fred Knuxx - "click to read the Interview"

 Written by TJ Kee

Fred Knuxx says that he’s The Next Big Thing. The Future of Hip-Hop. If Jay-Z’s “the Jordan of the game,” then he’s “the Carmello or Lebron.” Judging from his mixtape smash The Repo Man … I’d say he’s more like D-Wade. Why? ‘Cuz Wade didn’t dunk, dribble and shoot for the hell of it. He didn’t just take Miami to the Championship—he brought home the ring. And you’d better believe that Fred Knuxx and StarCore Entertainment are ready to stake their claim as one of Hip-Hop’s winning teams.

The Repo Man is an easy album to listen to. The day I got it, I read all the song titles, then burned it to my iPod and hit shuffle. Got the requisite intro from the DJ, then I was hit by a piano-chord. Happy. Refreshing. Had my head rockin’ already. It was Kickstand, the song that got Fred the victory on DJ Kurupt’s Unsigned Hype Mixtape. He starts off with a verse that surprised me:

I got a confession to make, uh/My rims ain’t spinnin’ yetThat’ll happen dog/once I get a bigger check

Hold up … he’s not talking about ridin’ on 20’s? No TV’s in the headrest? No model chicks in the passenger seat? Nah. Fred’s lyrics are about his real life and how his flow is different from any other cat’s in the game. The hook on Kickstand is addictive.

Just walk wit’ a nigga/Get your kickstand on Walk wit’ a nigga/Get your kickstand on

Had me singing along right after the second verse. And though it’s a radio-ready song, it’s not fluff. Knuxx’s lyrics are complex, but still easy to understand. With a verse like:

But I burn/like I’m spitting lyrical permsThat’s so hot/I can melt the ice on your chainThat’s okay/it’s how I’m comin’ to flood the game

I was ready to hear more.

The next song was Clap First Freestyle. A sparse beat. Just some hi-hats in the background and a couple of scratches. The hint of cockiness that came out in Kickstand is in full effect here.

I ain’t the greatest of all time/I must confess Far as the hottest rappers out now/I’m one of the best

Clap First is not the best song on the album, but its lack of musical distraction highlights Knuxx’s flow. His rhythm. He sounds comfortable on the mic, and he’s got skill with words. The last verse was the redeemer:

Y’all niggas are so wack/you’re hurting yourselfMight as well crawl back in the pussy/and rebirth yourself

On Legend of A Star (featuring Dom 1) the background is lush. Violins, a synthesizer, and what sounds like a George Michael sample sets up a dreamy, surreal feeling. I wanted to see how Fred could do in a collabo, and he shines. His lyrics are what stake the claim to stardom. Knuxx isn’t afraid to expose the smoke and mirrors in the Hip-Hop industry:

Read in between the lines/it’s entertainment Meaning they get paid for being fake, man Everything you see on TV’s an illusion

Excluding/Fred Knuxx and this Star movement … Get to know these hypocrites/before you bump they music

Remember Jigga’s Dear Summer? Try taking it to a whole ‘nother level. Fred spits a letter to an unexpected recipient—Iraq. In Dear Iraq, he rhymes over the same sample, but the carefree background serves as the perfect platform for his politically charged lyrics. Not only does he blast President Bush for:

It’s a government/that got our troops killin’ your brothamanTakin’ over your oil was all he had planned/Claimed that Saddam Hussein was a bad man/So now it’s Bombs over Baghdad/to liberate your land

Knuxx even takes the POV of a soldier, confused, and questioning himself:

I feel like the/Baby I just killed/Coulda been mine Got my partner over here/just losin’ his mind

That’s the thing about The Repo Man. It’s far from ordinary. Although there are one or two rough patches (Fred’s laid-back flow doesn’t click well with the rapid-fire verses on Cock, Aim, Shoot), it’s an album that could play over and over again without getting old. On an album with twenty-three tracks, more than half of them are gems.

Take Bunny Hop, his other mainstream hit with Lanski. Knuxx shows that he can bounce rhymes back and forth over a booty-clappin’ beat. On The Future, he lets off a multi-verse metaphor that makes his mouth the gun and his words the bullets. Listen to it three times and you finally get the picture—and really start to see that this guy is a thinker. From Diary, which tells the tale of a good guy gone bad, to Roll Call, with its Neptune’s style-sparse beat, his lyrics remain unique. Fresh. Sharp. Not your typical sex, drug and guns. When he’s paired with new, original beats, the words literally pop. Cop this album if you’re tired of all the same boring songs, the overused samples and weak rhymes.

The Repo Man won’t disappoint you. Like I said, ‘scuse me … like Fred said. He’s taking the game back. Y’all fake rap cats better be ready! I got to chat with Fred for a moment, to find out how he gets down.

Check out my interview with him here.

Music Review
CuneoP - "click to read more"

1) How would you categorize your music?

CuneoP: Dance, Club, Rap/Club and Industrial Metal music.

2) What bands and albums have influenced you most?

CuneoP: Madonna, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode, Pantera (Dimebag Darrel’s passion for music) and B.G (Rapper)

3) The title of your upcoming album, CuneoP: The LiesThrillz, is some what enigmatic. Can you explain how you came to the title?

CuneoP: The Lies Thrillz is based on Lies and Thrillz that makes life adventurous. The Lies we tell our lovers (Female), friends, co-workers, and the Lies we use to advance ourselves with a self-motivating purpose. The Lies we have felt when we have had our heart ripped out and want destroy someone else’s hope with our Lies when we tell them what they want to hear and in the end rip their heart out taking major pleasure in it. The Thrillz is meant for putting yourself in the danger zone ofbeing destroyed by someone love you think you have, the glory of finding true love, the Thrillz of putting your wits against someone else’s wits and seeing who willwin making you commander of their heart.

CuneoP: The Lies Thrillz is also about people who have brought out the love and the deceitfulness in people, which was hidden before they had a life altering experience that changed them.

CuneoP: The Lies Thrillz is about sex, money, love, drugs being taken with experiences that are never forgotten, pleasers and sin that this life is really about breaking the fallacy taught to use that living everyday life leads to a happy life.A happy life is a boring; life is about The Lies and Thrillz that shock’s us everydayin negative or positive way. From my personal experiences I have had a lot of girlfriend who were okay, but I had two girls I really loved and got my ripped out 2 times. It hurt like a son of a bitch; but dam it felt good when I did made other girls fall in love with me just break them in half. I realized that is what love is about; sex, saying things make each other comfortable and destroying each other in process. “MANY WOMEN HAVE TRIED, BUT HAVE FAILED TO CHANGE ME; NO GIRLCAN CHANGE ME AND IF SHE DID SHE WOULD BE MY PRINCESS”. In this world youhave protect yourself, you can make it a cold place for yourself without propersupervision of who you let get close to you.

Artist of the Month for Nov, 2006     Miss Money - Click for Interview

Written By Hypnotique

Miss Money is truly a unique and talented artist. The motivation that
she shows is truly unbelievable. It is quite clear in her interview that she is on a mission and there isn’t any stopping her now. She is spiritual and full of the motivation that she needs in order to conquer.

By any means, Miss Money isn’t selfish. She feels that she hasn’t done anything big enough to talk about yet. Don’t let that fool you, she has done many great things with her life. From Berklee all the way to making it happen in the studio. Miss Money has the strength that she needs to continue to astonish her fans and the others that come across her music.

‘Best Friend’ is one of my favorite songs. The feelings that she put into this song makes it truly remarkable. The story behind it is rather interesting as well since she recorded it during one of the low points in her life. Hip Hop is truly about sharing the situations in which it seemed impossible to win the battle over. This song speaks for itself, just take a few minutes to listen to it and draw your own opinion.

Miss Money has been diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. However, this isn’t slowing her down at all. It seems it gave her even stronger motivation to do what she had to do. While keeping God in her life, she is making her mark through the music that she shares with everyone to embrace.

It is always good to see an artist have so much determination. No matter what the obstacle is that’s blocking their way, they will find the way to get around it and leave it in the past. I think that these type of artists are the ones who end up making it to the top. After all, you only get out what you put in.

Overall, I love the music that Miss Money has put out in the streets. She is doing a marvelous job and I can’t wait to see what she has planned for the future. I think she has the capability to make it happen, and I see her hitting the top. She has said that she has a long way to go, this is very true, no matter what a person does. There will always be a way to better yourself and you won’t be satisfied until that is completed. New obstacles do indeed pop up all the time for those that are out there trying to make it happen.

JAY VEGA

Jay Vega—He is Hip Hop

By Allison Boyer

Jay Vega is not up-and-coming. Jay Vega is here.

If you’re looking for commercial music from an amateur artist, you’ll need to look somewhere else. I haven’t personally driven there and counted, but I’m willing to bet that there are hundred of Brooklyn would-be hip hop artists looking for a big break. It takes real talent to stand up above that crowd, but Jay is rising out of his seat among the dabbling DJs and novice newbies to bring us some original beats.

And thank God for that.

If there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it’s that hip hop artists seem to have lost the integrity that was once found with players like Biggie Smalls, one of Jay’s biggest influences. Now, many artists are hoping to cash in with some commercialized tracks that have the beat but lack the lyrics. “I won’t put out music just to put it out,” Jay says, and after listening to just one song, you can tell that he means it. Jay, I would venture to say, is a perfectionist. You can see what I mean by checking out his music at DigitalMusicPlanet.com for free. His sexy voice wouldn’t mean anything without the hundreds of hours you can tell that he pours into working on each song.

“Sometimes I don’t go outside all day when I’m working on my music,” he says, with a laugh. It’s all about the music for Jay, whose debut album The Barz and the Beatz is scheduled for release by February or March of this year. That’s not all he’s up to, though—Jay also is helping to produce a number of albums for other New York artists, scheduling shows throughout New York, and doing web design.

Some of the first tracks from The Barz and the Beatz are already up on Jay’s MySpace page, where he’s gaining more and more fans every day. He’s got a huge international following already, with his promos doing great in Europe. Jay and I agree—it’s time to bring those beats over to the United States. His first single, “Girl Like You,” has a hook that you can’t get out of your head and a slow beat that makes you want to jump out of your seat, grab a hottie, and hit the dance floor.

Oh, and caution: if you’re anything like me, “She’s Runnin Game,” another single from The Barz and the Beatz will cause car dancing, which is just a bit embarrassing when you get caught by the guy in the car next to you. The track Jay’s most proud of, however, is “One Night Only.” In it, he talks about the pressures of being a leader, his relationship (or lack of) with his father, and the love he has for his daughter.

The Barz and the Beatz is great because not only can I imagine it playing in the club while I’m on the dance floor, but I can also get a message from his words. Jay’s a musical poet with this album, something I hope to hear more of in the coming months. He’s working on building up a fan base in New York and by the end of the year hopes to release his music to the rest of the United States. What can we listeners expect in the future? Nothing but the best, I hope. “I like to say something,” says Jay, about his music. “I have something to say.”

We’re listening, Jay. Don’t let us down.
